My grandmother makes quilts (she has won like first place awards and stuff. She even had her’s and my grandfather’s lives reenacted on a stage because she made a quilt. It’s cool) and for each grandchild that graduates, she makes a special one for them. Unfortunately I don’t really show who i am around the rest of my family because all I do is play video games and draw… so she had to ask me what I liked. It took me like half the school year to figure out what I wanted my quilt to be. It came down to something with art supplies or video game things, like controllers and cartridges or something. Until the day before I went to her house on Easter, I sat there making some design on photoshop and THIS came out.

It’s obviously Steam Powered Giraffe. It’s freaking AWESOME! hidden all around the quilt are like single-threaded different steampunk items like a curly mustache, or a train, or an airship (she did a bunch of research on steampunk, btw. My dad helped her too.) and along the border is a bunch of cogs and gears. I’ve never really realized how cool quilts are until I got this, yesterday. I was always like, “Oh cool, it’s a blanket that you can hang on your wall….” now I see that you hide little things in the stitching and it’s actually a lot cooler than I ever thought it was going to be!
